Workflow problem

Daniel developed a lot-and-sample system for Paldara to follow sample movement through a research facility. The purpose was process oversight and stronger documentation across the chain of work.

He also developed an SOP logging system for testing protocols and newly developed research methods. Together, the systems addressed two connected needs: where a sample is and how the work on it should be performed.

System design

The project connects Daniel’s laboratory experience with data engineering, interface design, structured records, and the practical needs of researchers with different levels of domain experience.

Its public description stays at the workflow level so private schemas, facility details, biological records, and unpublished methods remain confidential.

Traceability and change control

A robust laboratory workflow would preserve stable sample identifiers, custody events, timestamps, processing status, operator actions, and links to the exact SOP version used at each step. Permissions and an audit trail would help distinguish corrections from silent changes while keeping sensitive records appropriately restricted.

The result is a system where status, procedure, and responsibility remain visible without weakening the controls around sensitive research information.
